Internship Program 

We are a small independent publisher of children’s books, happy to welcome a new intern to join our team in our Fulham office. The successful candidate will be involved with all aspects of children’s book publishing, a team player, willing to pitch in across areas of usual responsibility, get their hands dirty and work hard. As we are a small business there are many opportunities to delve into different areas of publishing within the business.  

We encourage you to apply for the internship position if you have no previous industry experience and would like to learn if this is the right industry for you, or you need to complete an internship for your course requirements. We currently are not in a position to hire a new employee. This may change in the future but there is no guarantee. 

We are able to tailor the internship to your chosen area of publishing. You can opt for Editorial, Design or both. 

Editorial intern’s duties may include: 
  • Reading of unsolicited manuscripts and determining suitability for publishing  
  • Assisting lead editor with both a grammatical and substantive edit on picture and chapter books  
  • Blogging  

Design intern’s duties may include: 
  • Scanning and image correcting  
  • Designing monthly web assets 
  • Designing seasonal newsletter  
  • Creating social media imagery  
  • Assisting design team with cover and internal picture book design 

General duties for both editorial and design interns: 
  • Sending out review copies  
  • Scheduling social media posts  
  • Organising information for seasonal newsletter 
  • Organising mail and couriers  
  • Research  
  • Administration of publishing and online data 
  • A small amount of client communication via email 
By the end of the internship you will have explored many areas of a small to medium-sized publishing house, furthered your understanding of the industry and what is expected of a junior in a small publishing business.
